“Incarceration # 2”
Happily ever after,
I hope my life will be.
Someday I’ll be free—
I’ll be home—
A changed man.
You’ll see!
I wish I was smarter,
Way back when,
But I sit here in a cage,
Lonely,
Because I fucked up again.
I know it’s my fault,
Though I put the blame on others.
Now I’m tired.
And when I sleep,
I sleep hidden by dirty covers—
Sheets:
The only things between me
And this insane world.
I sleep,
Curled in a ball,
Dreaming about life
Outside the wall—
Dreaming about going home.
When will this day be?
I really don’t know,
But someday I’ll be free!
