“It Is Love”

It is love

When one heart meets another

And then the two uniformly beat.

It is love

When five minutes of separation

Is far too long a separation—

Being gone from each other’s side ten minutes

Can feel more like a week.

It is love

When twenty years go by

And there’s still that sparkle in the eyes—

There are no lies,

No cold disguise—

There's nothing but love's heat.

It is love

When you treat each other kindly,

When you find their touch divinely,

When you know the love itself

Could never hit a peak—

When you know the love itself

Could never become a chore!

And it is love

When fifty times a day,

You can hold your love,

And honestly say:

Our love will last, at least, one hundred eternities…

And then one hundred more.
